Picture perfect scenery at Epcot center. Santa Mickey Head Topiaries with a view of Spaceship Earth…
I haven’t had much time to post lately, unfortunately. I was hoping to post a few things before Christmas from around the WDW parks, resorts, and shops, probably going to be just photos mostly, kinda like the wordless Wednesday type posts. Just some photos for your enjoyment. This one is adorable. Love their steins and little pretzels, and the other one with his tree and gift. Too cute.
Wish I could take a bunch home a decorate a small tree with them, that would probably cost a small fortune…Disney…
If you wish you could be at the 1st Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party of the season at Magic Kingdom tonight but can’t be, check out the live stream that will be available at Disney Parks Blogs. They are supposed to start streaming at 6:15 PM EST, a new post should be appearing at the main page. http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog
I’m looking forward to it, I haven’t been to a MVMCP yet and the stage shows for any event are always so crowded. This should be good.

I ended up filling up my Disney Store shopping cart again today and buying some items. I was going to order some things yesterday and ended up getting cold feet. But I went back and ordered some stuff and I used the 25% off code DISNEYPAL and also got free shipping for over $75 order. Between both the free shipping and the coupon code, I saved about $47.
I bought a few extra things I wasn’t originally planning on getting this time, like this:
We’ve been wanting this for such a long time. We see it every year and always put off getting it. I always hope it’s going to be on sale after Christmas. I asked my husband if we should get it or wait until after Christmas, he said to get it now so we can use it this year. It’s really cute.
I ordered this too, which I’ve been eyeballing for a long time (it’s good for Halloween & Christmas!):
Super cute holiday plates too, these will be perfect:
And a set of these Winnie the Pooh Tsum Tsums.
These will be the first ones I have collected.
These holiday Tsum Tsums are adorable, but I didn’t see them online in the shopping area. I might end up getting these. They would make an adorable Christmas display.
It seems I always end up buying something when I get Disney Store emails about sales…even when I try hard to resist! Merry (early) Christmas to me.
Well, I almost bought some stuff yesterday online and then got cold feet. I had a few items for a couple friends, that ornament I wanted – the Hallowreath guy from Nightmare Before Christmas, and some Christmas plates. There is still time until tomorrow, that is unless they sell out of the items I wanted.
Thought maybe you guys and gals might like to check out the online Disney store, seems like a good deal 25% off and free shipping on orders over $75.
Love this ornament! I need to buy this. Bad news… it’s $21.95…for one! Holy Hell! I like to stick my finger in between his teeth.
Even though I didn’t buy it this time, I still enjoyed looking through the entire Christmas shop at the Magic Kingdom during the last Electrical Parade of the night, the place was practically empty.
Good news, it’s also available at the Disney Store online. Maybe it will go on sale or they may email some discount promo. Annual Pass only gets a 10% Discount anyways, same as the Disney Visa for the Disneystore.com
Saw these Star Wars themed gingerbread pins in a gift shop in Epcot. The back of the box here, shows all the different collectible pins. The box is a mystery box, you don’t know what random pins will be inside.
These are so unbelievably cute.
If you haven’t already seen the very sad news, Disney has decided to close this yearly event after this year. Repeat: 2015 is going to be the last year for the Osborne Lights. There have been rumors for at least two years, I never thought they would really close it.
I am devastated.
This is my absolute FAVORITE holiday tradition. I love it more than any other holiday event or activity. I love it more than Christmas presents. This is the epitome of my Christmas joy. I’m having a hard time coming to terms with this loss, I am definitely still experiencing, denial, anger, depression, as well as bargaining – the feeling like Disney needs to do something to save it, move it to another location, or create another venue for it. I even thought about starting an online petition to save it – but I don’t think it would help.
I know they want to build at Hollywood Studios for the expansion of Toy Story and Star Wars, but they’ve closed One Man’s Dream, and the Animation Academy too. I’m worried they are going to close the Muppets section too.
I don’t think I’ll get over this. Is anyone else upset about this decision?

I love celebrating at Disney (Walt Disney World). Spending your birthday or anniversary at Disney just seems so much more special (dare I say, magical even?), elevating it to a “Disney Birthday” or “Disney Anniversary”. Heck, you can celebrate anything at Disney, even an un-birthday! Why not? Being at Walt Disney World gives you a little room to be silly, to be yourself, and to have fun.
Part of the fun is planning ahead of time. Choosing where to go and what to do, where to eat, what rides or shows to see. Whether or not to book a special tour, VIP experience, or signature dinner? Which Disney Resort to stay at? There are so many different experiences waiting to be had, you can plan something that is just right for you or the honoree. If you enjoy some added attention, you can get celebration buttons at your Disney Resort or at Guest Relations, they say things like: “I’m Celebrating”, “Just Married”, “1st Visit”, “Happy Birthday”, etc. Cast members usually acknowledge your celebration if they see your button. Every once in a while a cast member might really do something to make your birthday even more special, I particularly love the small Disney birthday cupcakes.
Just being at Disney for my birthday is amazing, whether it’s eating quick service Japanese food and watching Illuminations, or eating at Cosmic Ray’s inside the Magic Kingdom and watching Sonny Eclipse at midnight as it turns my birthday! I’ve spent many birthdays just being at the parks and riding rides, or just going to dinner. Nothing fancy at all, just being there. Nothing beats the Strawberry Shortcake at Fort Wilderness.
As I’ve gotten older, I try to plan something special for our birthdays each year. With our Disney Vacation Club timeshare, it makes it easy and affordable to book a hotel room with our points for our birthdays or anniversary, or for anytime we want to stay at WDW, like for Flower and Garden Festival or Food and Wine Festival.
Special tours can be pricey, you can check out what Disney offers at their website. We did the Wanyama Safari last year, it’s a tour around Animal Kingdom Lodge with a zoologist/safari guide, and then a Signature Dining Experience at Jiko.
A celebration is even more special with fireworks! Thankfully, Disney has that covered, you can enjoy fireworks everyday of the year at Walt Disney World.
Hope that all your celebrations can be Disney ones!

Generally, I think people, by nature, have the tendency to collect things. Most of my family has a collection or some type or other, it could be pottery, shoes, clothes, art, knick knacks, cough…beanie babies, etc.
There is just so much out there to collect and you may be a casual collector, or perhaps a very serious collector who attends conventions or trade shows. For a Disney fan, there are a myriad of things to collect. You can collect vintage Disney items, currently made items, different things like kitchen items, textiles, bags, clothing, books, music, movies, posters, postcards, key chains, ornaments, jewelry. Plus don’t forget all the Disney Pins, Vinylmations, Jim Shore collectibles, Art and Prints.
It’s probably not a surprise that I have a love of all things Disney, considering that my earliest collection came from my parents and grandmother, who had provided me with a large collection of Disney books. Unfortunately, my mother gave them and ALL of my books to a family member, which I’m still rather sad about. My dad used to get me Disney magazines, many of which I have still, somehow my mom didn’t give those away. We also collected plush toys from the theme parks. The rule was: one toy, at the end of the day. So, I have many plush toys. I was neurotic about leaving the tags on when I was a child, so at least they are in pristine shape.
In my teens, I collected Disney movies, Disney plush animals, and Disney key chains. Back then, it was all VHS tapes, I remember going into K-mart and putting them on layaway. I used to buy Disney plush toys at Disney or at the mall. I still have most of these items, I’d like to have a nice display set up, but I don’t have anything right now. I loved how they had bookshelf displays set up One Man’s Dream at Hollywood Studios, that would be my ideal set up.
I have a pin collection, which I started in the late 1990’s, but really didn’t take off until about 2011-2013. I switched to collecting Vinylmations mostly in about 2012-2015. When the stopped Vinylmation trading earlier this year, I lost my interest in adding more pieces to my collection. The biggest draw for me was the ability to trade. I love Disney ornaments and have been collecting those for long time. I also have a love of Disney books, like cookbooks (I collect all kinds of cookbooks), record/story books, children’s books, theme park souvenir books, and more. I collect the odd bit of Disney glassware and kitchen décor, home décor, Disney music, bits of artwork like lithographs, Haunted Mansion themed items, Star Wars items, Muppets items, Nightmare Before Christmas items, and Disney clothes. I have a vintage Walt Disney World candy dish which I treasure, funny since I found it at Goodwill.
I really should get a nice bookshelf display set up so I can actually enjoy what I have collected so far. I did manage to find some pretty decent display cases from Amazon for my Vinylmations, I bought Shot Glass Displays for about $30 each, and they can accommodate 3″ Vinylmations quite well in a somewhat attractive wall-mountable black shadowbox case.
Do you have a passion for collecting Disney items? What do you collect?
