Edy’s Frozen Custard with bananas

We were checking out the ice cream aisle at the grocery store and saw that Edy’s has started making Frozen Custard ice cream. We’ve heard a lot of people talk about how great frozen custard is, one of our friends even recommended a frozen custard place about 60 miles away, now that is dedication and high praise. We’ve never had it before. Edy’s makes pretty good ice cream, so why not give it a try?!

There are six different flavors available: Chocolate Malt, Snickerdoodle, Peanut Butter Pie, Salted Caramel Pretzel, Old Fashioned Vanilla, and Mint Cookies ‘N Cream. While they all sound pretty delicious, we decided to stick with basics, so that we can add it to cake or whatever, we chose Vanilla and Chocolate.

Got home and went ahead and grabbed a spoon to take a bite. From the first bite I knew this is completely different than anything else I have tasted. I hate ice creams that are all fluff and air. The Edy’s Frozen Custard is the total opposite of fluffy and airy. The consistency is thick, dense, and creamy (as advertised), and the flavor is rich. All I can think is…wow, this is real ice cream…what the heck have we been eating for all these years? If you are going to eat something bad for you, it should at least taste as good as this.
