I’ve been looking forward to going on the Tri-Circle D Wagon Ride over at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds for while now. The wagon ride is a 45 minute tour of the Fort Wilderness campground area, and it costs $8.00 per adult and $5.00 per child. I believe that they offer a 10% discount, maybe for DVC members or Annual Passholders, but I forgot to ask. We were able to make it to the 8:30 pm ride. They also offer a tour at 6:00 pm. The wagon holds roughly 25-30 people and they do not take reservations, they operate on a first come first serve basis and it’s cash only. The wagon driver is the one who can accept payment for the rides
The wagon was pulled by two horses named Bob and Sarge. The ride started by taking us out towards the Outpost store, then past Trail’s End, Mickey’s Backyard BBQ, and past Tri-Circle D stables, then out onto the road. We were taken around the campsites among the RVs, Campers, fresh air and pine trees. We saw some campsites that were decorated with lights and other Mickey themed decorations.
We talked to some other guests for most of the trip, once we got going. It was dark out but we had a full moon overhead. It was a really nice night out, the weather was slightly breezy and clear. My only complaint is that the next day my back ached from sitting on the hard bench with no back support. If we were to ride again, I might bring a cushion to sit on. The only other option is the carriage ride, which is more expensive, it’s about $45.00 for 25 minutes, the carriage might seat 4-5, but would probably be more comfortable on the back. It would be fun to do around Halloween or around Christmas time as well. It was really fun and worth the cost. I don’t know of any places where we could find that type of entertainment in our area, plus it’s Disney, which makes it special.
Give it a try the next time you find yourself down at Fort Wilderness! Happy Trails!
